Since 1950, GenFi Ministries has operated with a clear mission to support churches with the financial tools they need to impact not just congregations, but generations.
While conventional lending institutions fixate on budgets and bottom lines, we consider other tangible metrics like communities revived and lives changed. At GenFi Ministries, formerly Church Extension Plan, we see a church’s potential and collaborate with everyday investors to literally fund ministry growth and bring God’s vision to life.
Our History
GenFi Ministries was founded in 1950 under the name Church Extension Plan by the Superintendent of the Oregon District of the Assemblies of God. Today, we are organized and operated by member districts of the Assemblies of God.
In 2025, Church Extension Plan became GenFi Ministries—a new name that reflects both our expanding services and our unwavering mission. While our name has changed, our purpose remains the same: to provide financial solutions that empower ministries to grow, thrive, and impact generations for the Kingdom of God. GenFi stands for generational impact and financial strength, values that continue to shape everything we do.

My name is Mark Whitney, and I am the President of GenFi Ministries (formally known as CEP). GenFi and the RMMN have collaborated together on many projects and we consider them a valuable partner in ministry.
GenFi is a ministry that provides financial services to Assemblies of God districts/networks and churches and their constituents by assisting them in fulfilling their vision of spreading the gospel. For over 75 years, GenFi has partnered with more than 3,000 churches by providing church loans, ministers’ retirement plans, and individual and organizational investments. At the heart of each of these interactions is a spirit of a win-win partnership which often makes us a preferrable option to traditional financial institutions.
